General Meetings & Presentations

The Society’s General Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month, September through June (no meetings in July or August), followed by a program or presentation. The meetings are held in the Wicker’s Building located in Lynnwood’s Heritage Park.  There is plenty of parking available in the adjacent parking lot.

Board Meetings

The SIGS Board meets on the 3rd Monday of the month at Humble House (except in June and July) at 6:00 p.m.  All members are invited to attend.

Focus Groups, Classes & Workshops

We offer a variety of free classes, workshops, and discussion/focus groups. All are held monthly at Humble House, 19827 Poplar Way, Lynnwood WA 98036.

New!  DNA Learning Series 

Seattle and Sno-Isle Genealogical Societies are co-sponsoring a monthly, seven class DNA Learning Series. The class will be held at Mountlake Terrace Sno-Isle Library, from 6:00-7:45pm, starting the third Thursday, on April 18, 2019. The series builds slowly, workshop style using your own computer and has homework assignments. Due to the venue, participation is limited to 45 society members with advanced registration.

Instructors are Craig K. Gowens and Cary Bright. A printout with the series information is available. This is a free offering to members of Seattle or Sno-Isle Genealogical Societies.

Classes include:

   – Intro to DNA testing [who, what and where to test]

   – yDNA & Mitochondrial DNA testing and results

   – Test Results are in… Now what [what to look for, analysis and organization of your results]

   – Autosomal DNA Ethnicity and inheritance & X Chromosome

   – Using Gedmatch/Genesis and 3rd Party Tools [learn about tools online to assist you in DNA analysis]

   – Special DNA tools at Ancestry & MyHeritage [and online tools that mimic those], and

   – Advanced Techniques.

Basic Beginning Genealogy Workshop

A ​Free Beginning Genealogy class is offered by the Sno-Isle Genealogical Society on the first Sat. of the month​ ​at 10am.  The 1hr. drop-in class will help the beginning researcher get organized and started to document their family history. Class is at the Sno-Isle Genealogy Research Library, 19827 Poplar Way, Heritage Park, Lynnwood. For more info call 425-775-6267 on Tues. or Thurs. 11-3pm. 

Brick Wall Busters Group

The Brick Wall Busters Group meets on the 4th Saturday of the month from 10 am to 3 pm.

This group uses a 1-on-1 approach to help solve those stubborn brick wall questions.  Each session is 50 minutes and reservations are recommended to ensure your spot. Reservations can be made by calling 425-775-6267

DNA Focus Group

On Hold until our moderator becomes available again. The DNA Focus Group meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 1 pm to 2 pm.

Scandinavian Consultations

Consultations on your Scandinavian Research issues are available upon request. The session gives you the opportunity to discuss your research questions and receive guidance on strategies and resources to help you move forward.
