The Seattle National Archives is the repository for Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington Federal records. In addition to physical holdings there are online tools and databases. An entire section of their site is devoted to genealogy! They also offer on-site classes and workshops, as well as webinars and online workshops.
The Fiske Genealogical Library has a materials not typically available, especially for towns east of the Mississippi (check website for hours). They have an online catalog, publish a free quarterly newsletter and offer lots of classes and workshops; the calendar is in their newsletter. There is a small fee for using the library.
The Seattle Genealogical Society strives to further genealogical research, promote interest in family history, and preserve records. Along with regular meetings they offer classes and seminars, compile and publish research materials, and maintain a computer-equipped, 15,000-item library that’s open to the public for research.

The Seattle Public Library’s Genealogy Collection is one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest. There are two genealogy librarians available to assist with research. They offer tours of the collection as well as free classes on genealogical research. You can use their online databases, schedule 30-minute appointments with a genealogy librarian or visit the Genealogy Collection to find out about your family’s roots.
The Everett Public Library offers a variety of resources of interest to genealogists, including their acclaimed Northwest History Room documenting the Pacific Northwest Region, as well as digital collections on the history of Everett and Snohomish County. The Northwest History Room ahs two full-time historians who can provide reference and research assistance.
The Sno-Isle Libraries encompass 23 communities libraries in Snohomish and Island Counties. In addition to providing access to the library editions of Ancestry.com and MyHeritage, the libraries have historical photograph collections, a national collection of obituaries and death notices and other records and collection of local interest.

Located in the north wing of the LDS Church, they serve the areas of Shoreline, Edmonds, Brier, Kenmore, Bothell, Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood. They are staffed by 30+ monthly volunteers. The facility covers more than 2000 sq ft with 5 different rooms for computers, Microfilm\fiche, library, instructional classrooms, and Audio/Visual recording.
Heritage Quest Research Library is a nonprofit genealogy library in Sumner, Washington, managed and staffed entirely by volunteers. HQRL’s collection includes books (15,000 titles), and microfiche. There is also a bookstore where you can purchase genealogy books, family tree forms, software and supplies.
The University of Washington Libraries are among the largest academic libraries in North America. While primarily focused on services for students, faculty and staff, visitors are welcome to use most resources and many of the services. The libraries house newspapers, maps, archives, manuscripts and special collections and many books useful to genealogists.
